Hi! I'm Jathan Newton. I've been at Abounding Grace Church since the summer of 2007 when my family and I moved here from Indiana. I am married and have four children. I hold a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and an M.Div from Baptist Bible Seminary. I identify with Timothy, Paul's disciple, because of his need to depend upon God for the work he was called to do, and also because of his struggle with timidity.
One of my favorite passages is 1 Corinthians 1:18-31. Verses 30-31 say, "But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption so that just as it is written, 'LET HIM WHO BOAST, BOAST IN THE LORD.'" My past was filled with worldly as well as religious pride and prideful living--putting God at or below man's understanding. I was a rebel failing to submit to the Word of God and leaning on worldly wisdom rather than the Holy Scriptures. God has given me wisdom by opening my eyes by the power of the Gospel and the Holy Spirit to see His work in Jesus Christ. By His doing I am a partaker and a participant in Jesus Christ's death, burial and resurrection. Jesus paid my price for redemption, taking the wrath of God on the cross in my place. He took what I deserved and by His resurrection I have victory over death and the penalty for my sin has been satisfied and now I have Hope of eternal life and His return for me. I am a new creation by HIS doing placed in His kingdom. I belong to Him and Him alone. Praise God I am a sinner saved by grace to serve the King of kings and Lord of lords.
A job opportunity brought me, my wife and two children to Visalia in 2012. The Lord introduced us to Abounding Grace Church through a local home school leader. Since being led to Abounding Grace Church, I believe God moved us here to become a part of this caring and loving, biblically based, family centered Church. God created the job opportunity for that reason. I was recently blessed to be asked to become a deacon of this wonderful body of believers and I am so grateful and thankful to God for his blessings. I am also blessed to be coordinating the Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University course that is sponsored by Abounding Grace Church. “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:6-7 ESV)
Hello, my name is Dameon Malek, I have been married for 14 years and have three children. I was the recipient of God's grace at the age of 22. I began attending Abounding Grace Church in the humble beginnings somewhere around 1994-95. I am privileged to sit under solid preaching and teaching of God's word at Abounding Grace Church. I was taught the importance of God's attributes and the depths of man's sin. God's sovereignty made perfect sense and I saw it everywhere in the Bible. Solid teaching and sanctified lives are the hallmark of Abounding Grace Church. I count it a blessing to serve as a deacon in a place where God is lifted high.
